Oh, huh... today's my 18th birthday.

It's kinda shocking, how quickly my time at the Academy's gone by... It's almost unreal to me.

Even though I still feel like something's watching me, at least things feel sorta... peaceful, right now.

I guess at the least, that's what I'd want right now.

*from sunset to evening, Hitoshi's out and about, be it at the island or in the city.

He's yawning a little, though he's taking great care to cover his mouth when doing so. Seems like he just woke up or something. But... He keeps looking over his shoulder, too.

Whoever or whatever's been watching him has done it consistently, but he still isn't sure why or who... So he's a little on edge about it.*

*Hitoshi just... covers his face, groaning a bit, as the mysterious man smiles in an unsettling manner*

Humans are as humans, I see. Mayhaps you should go to sleep for a while, boy.

"... oh."

And like that, Neil yawns and lays down on the ground. He's... he's asleep almost immediately.

Oh, odd. I didn't even begin to hypnotize him. Is that just...? *looking up from Neil's sleeping body, to smile at Hitoshi, who steps back*

Is that just how this boy is, dear nephew?

*tensed up like a scared cat. he keeps subtly trying to shake Neil with his "shadow", trying to rouse him, but also trying to keep some distance between himself and this man who just called him his nephew*

I don't... I don't know you. Why do you keep following me?

You shouldn't act that way around family, nephew. If you're not careful, I might just get a bit hungry, with this human lying prone here.

Not that I wish to resort to threats, just to get you to listen.

*oh god Neil you're totally going to get eaten*

Neil knew the risks when he took this job. He continues to snore softly, muttering something about 'two more minutes.'

*... tries to shake more vigorously*

J-just what do you want from me? Are you the one who's kept following me this whole time?

Of course. I had decided to... Observe you, nephew. To see if your grandmother's request needed to be fulfilled.

Though I'll admit, I'm very impressed by your self-control. Even though you had accidentally ingested blood, you haven't lost control of yourself, have you?

*coughing a bit*

I mean... I don't know what you're talking about. You mean grandmother's involved in whatever this is about? Just what request did she put in?!

Just that if you are having so much trouble, that I am to bring you to our school in the Twelve Dimensions. Immediately.

Neil flips over with the vigorous shaking now, still snoring. A hand in his jacket that's kinda. Moving around.

"Jus... Jus one more minute, please."

Wha... school? What for...?

*shaking his head a bit. He seems to vaguely realize just what it's for, but...*

I'm... I'm not going anywhere. Especially not with you.

Heh. As I said, I have felt very impressed by your self-control. Why, if your protector here hadn't been so insistent on trying to launch some attempt to draw me out, I'd have waited until your graduation, but...

*he produces a cane, which he uses to "gently" apply pressure to the hand that's moving around in your pocket, Neil*

Now just what do you think you're doing? More rice?

Neil winces, his eyes popping open. He's been holding something in there and he's let it go under the pressure.

"Oh, you caught me. Well... no. I'm out of rice and I didn't bring flash grenades with me this time, so... I just thought we could all, y'know. Celebrate? It's your nephew's birthday after all."

It is. And what a special day it is, really. After all, this could potentially be the start of his new educational career. There is more than enough reason to celebrate.

But I don't trust you, boy. Just what are you planning?

"Oh, you know. A quiet outing. A few of my friends. I don't know any of Hitoshi's friends, unfortunately. Or I'd have texted them instead."

He blinks slowly.

"What's there to not trust about that?"

I've been keeping tabs on my nephew for several months, boy.

I already know that you and your friends were going out of their way to attempt to assist him.

"Oh, good. Then this isn't going to be a huge surprise when they walk out of that alley over there."

He points.

If it's looked at there's definitely no one over there.

*both Hitoshi and the man glance over there-- though the man's definitely more casual about it, still applying the pressure. The man then looks back.*

Well? Where are your friends?

"... A very good question."

He grabs the cane with his other hand.

"Ah, Hitoshi? Run."

*there's a bit of hesitation on Hitoshi's part, mostly because it means leaving you to face the mystery vampire man.

But then he turns and runs.*

*the man yanks the cane out of Neil's hand, before jabbing it into your stomach, Neil. It's about as gentle as the pressure before, which is: none at all.*

I'm really trying to be cordial in this case, boy, but you are starting to get on my nerves.

Neil hrks, putting both of his hands on the cane and pulling on it.

"I mean, that's kinda the point. You're thinking something like 'I can deal with this boy right now and go after my nephew once he's dealt with.' Right?"

And would I be wrong for assuming it, boy?

"I mean, probably not. I'll put up more of a fight than you thought I'd be capable of, but straight hand to hand you've got me outclassed in every conceivable way. I'd have to get the drop on you to have a fraction of a chance outside of a game or something.

I also don't think you'd be sporting enough to duel Graham or Yildiz when you could just grab Hitoshi and run. So, I'd have to waste your time talking while they could plan something to at least keep him safe from you.

... I see why people layout their plans in monologue. That felt really good."
