Oh, huh... today's my 18th birthday.

It's kinda shocking, how quickly my time at the Academy's gone by... It's almost unreal to me.

Even though I still feel like something's watching me, at least things feel sorta... peaceful, right now.

I guess at the least, that's what I'd want right now.

*from sunset to evening, Hitoshi's out and about, be it at the island or in the city.

He's yawning a little, though he's taking great care to cover his mouth when doing so. Seems like he just woke up or something. But... He keeps looking over his shoulder, too.

Whoever or whatever's been watching him has done it consistently, but he still isn't sure why or who... So he's a little on edge about it.*

Oh, uh... hey to you, too.

... Is this meant to be something for celebrating?

"Yeah, they're hats. To let people know it's your birthday. At least in America. It's real stupid but... I kinda like 'em."

*... ... well, as a show of good faith, he humbly accepts the hat and puts it on.

... he looks very silly with it.*

Neil gives the lowest energy thumbs up that has ever existed.

"I approve. That's all I wanted to do. If you don't want me keeping you company tonight, I get it. Just figured I'd do something for your birthday. Still being creeped on?"

*... he nods a little looking around*

Y-yeah. I think I'd rather have someone around, honestly, since... I still don't know what it is that's following me. I keep half-thinking it might be waiting for me to do something to try to lure it out...

"Set the trap for someone who's trying to trap it... sounds like a predator of some kind, honestly. A smart one."

Maybe, but... I'm not sure why I'd be hunted in the first place, you know? It's not like I'm anyone that'd be appealing.

"Yeah, that's the weird part for me too. You just seem like... a normal dude. But maybe that's the appeal?"

*"normal"? well, I guess to anyone just looking at me...*

Well... maybe. Maybe that's what keeps them watching, I guess? Since everyone else seems to be so... ... I don't want to say "weird".

"Weird is the right term though. There's not a single person who's normal here.

... they're back home for a family emergency or something, but they should be back tonight or tommorow... do you want to do something when Graham and Yil get back?"

Do you mean in terms of doing things together, or in terms of trying to drive out whatever it is that's stalking me?

"... both.

Graham's alot stronger than me and Yil's the one who's good with this weird stuff. But I think they like you."

Oh, I'm... ... I feel a little flattered that they do, at least.

I'd like to try to figure out a way to stop being stalked, though. At minimum.

"We've got... a few ideas. Maybe we can make tonight the night. The best birthday present we could give."

Wait, tonight? Really? Just what kind of plans...?

*not that it'd be smart to say if whoever is stalking is listening*

"I don't know. All I know is that it'd really suck if they struck right now."

*a... are you baiting them by saying that out loud?*

... maybe. Neil seems to realize what he's said.

"... maybe they aren't eavesdropping."

Oh, no, boy. I just was weighing my options.

But please, do continue with whatever "plan" it is that you have concocted, in this case.

Neil gets into a serious position, his hand going to the inside of his jacket, before whipping out something faster than anyone's really seen him move.

... grains of rice scatter the ground. He looks at the rice, then the man expectantly.

*Hitoshi just... covers his face, groaning a bit, as the mysterious man smiles in an unsettling manner*

Humans are as humans, I see. Mayhaps you should go to sleep for a while, boy.

"... oh."

And like that, Neil yawns and lays down on the ground. He's... he's asleep almost immediately.

Oh, odd. I didn't even begin to hypnotize him. Is that just...? *looking up from Neil's sleeping body, to smile at Hitoshi, who steps back*

Is that just how this boy is, dear nephew?

*tensed up like a scared cat. he keeps subtly trying to shake Neil with his "shadow", trying to rouse him, but also trying to keep some distance between himself and this man who just called him his nephew*

I don't... I don't know you. Why do you keep following me?

You shouldn't act that way around family, nephew. If you're not careful, I might just get a bit hungry, with this human lying prone here.

Not that I wish to resort to threats, just to get you to listen.
