Oh, huh... today's my 18th birthday.

It's kinda shocking, how quickly my time at the Academy's gone by... It's almost unreal to me.

Even though I still feel like something's watching me, at least things feel sorta... peaceful, right now.

I guess at the least, that's what I'd want right now.

*from sunset to evening, Hitoshi's out and about, be it at the island or in the city.

He's yawning a little, though he's taking great care to cover his mouth when doing so. Seems like he just woke up or something. But... He keeps looking over his shoulder, too.

Whoever or whatever's been watching him has done it consistently, but he still isn't sure why or who... So he's a little on edge about it.*

*the man yanks the cane out of Neil's hand, before jabbing it into your stomach, Neil. It's about as gentle as the pressure before, which is: none at all.*

I'm really trying to be cordial in this case, boy, but you are starting to get on my nerves.

Neil hrks, putting both of his hands on the cane and pulling on it.

"I mean, that's kinda the point. You're thinking something like 'I can deal with this boy right now and go after my nephew once he's dealt with.' Right?"

"I mean, probably not. I'll put up more of a fight than you thought I'd be capable of, but straight hand to hand you've got me outclassed in every conceivable way. I'd have to get the drop on you to have a fraction of a chance outside of a game or something.

I also don't think you'd be sporting enough to duel Graham or Yildiz when you could just grab Hitoshi and run. So, I'd have to waste your time talking while they could plan something to at least keep him safe from you.

Even if you have my nephew on a constant guard, boy, I will still take him away once it's time, though that would admittedly delay me a small amount. After all, you're only just being a distraction.

Besides, it isn't like you just told him to run away, so that he'd be alone, now did you?

"Well, no. That'd be stupid. I'd have him run to my back-up.

... Are you basically going to just take him to vampire school where he can be a better vampire? Because that's stupid."

Well, it would be to make sure he doesn't lapse into a blood-thirsty frenzy and start attacking his friends, but certainly, we can go with your viewpoint.

Do you have a complaint about it?

I'm surprised that the weight of the situation has made it clear to you, boy. *he makes a laugh, those fangs looking more pronounced* Make no mistake. I am somewhat of a bad guy, because even with the best of intentions, I still stalked him, and I'm still likely going to have to kidnap him for a little while. *... well, least he's aware those are bad things!*

But as you might have overheard when you were pretending to sleep, I've been impressed at his self-control. But once he's had a taste of it, it's rather... difficult to repress.

And something occurred that led to him inadvertently having a taste. Not that he's willing to divulge that, even to his closest friends.

Neil... sighs.

"I suppose you would know the best. Can you stop trying to crush my organs now? Are you stalking him so you could get an eye for this bloodlust and be able to take him at a good moment?

Because that all... makes sense, honestly."

Oh, was I "crushing" them? Apologies, it's sometimes hard to remember my own strength.

*he lifts the cane, but he keeps it hovered over you. there's definitely an understandable level of not trusting what's going on in your head, Neil.*

And your assumption would be correct. Even as we speak, one of my familiars is watching him, just in case.

*oh, so... even telling him to run wasn't gonna stop anything...*

He winces and rubs his chest and hand as he slowly gets up.

"And also let me guess, if you tried to explain this rationally to him, he'd just. Bolt. Or reject it outright. I'll... see what I can do on convincing my friends then. I don't trust you quite yet, but I think I'd rather have him returning eventually without the possibility of going bonkers on my conscience than him eating or even trying to eat someone here."

He seems... pretty sold on this, honestly.

"Sorry for the misunderstanding, mister...?"

*he makes a smile, before taking out a monocle to put on, the gesture shifting his appearance to...*

You may call me "Sheridan", my boy. If you can attempt to convince him to listen to me, maybe we can avoid further playing around, like this.

You are far less vampire hot like this. ... Neil is a little disappointed.

"... Yeah. I'll talk to him and my friends, Sheridan. I don't think he'll be happy about it, but I think he'd be less happy about trying to eat his friends. Do you have a good way to get into contact with you?"

*grins, and removes the monocle, changing back.*

I do regret to say that I lack more... traditional methods of communication in the human world. I've spent a rather long time in other worlds, you should understand, and most of my attention's been on my nephew.

However, until this is fully resolved, I'm always watching, so long as you're near him.

All I desire is to fulfill my... mother's, request, to make sure that Hitoshi doesn't face further difficulties. Once that is done, I'll take my leave back to where I belong.

I hope he doesn't. How long would 'awhile' be, so he could learn this self-control anyway?"

*he taps his cane on the ground, as though pondering the exacts*

Learning self-control is a constant effort for all of us, but given his relative age and remarkable display of self-control, it shouldn't be too long.

Perhaps a year for him to learn the basics enough to live however long he wants his human life to be, in our time. *"Our" time?*

"... your time?"

A year isn't bad. This is one hundred percent okay in Neil's eyes.

Oh, yes. It's difficult to explain in human terms, and I must admit this is something no one has control upon, but the "12 Dimensions", the worlds that inhabit it, can have fluctuating timespans compared to Earth's time.

While this doesn't usually vary too wildly, depending on where you go, you can have several months pass in a Earth week.

As a result, where I am from can regularly fluctuate depending on the point of time. I won't know until I'm back, but I could find that a year has gone by, already.

*and if you remember it right, Hitoshi mentioned that he was being followed as far back as October...*

"... Oh, so. If it's sped up there... It'd be just a few months maybe from our perspective..."

He hrms.

"That's... honestly very fascinating. I didn't realize it could fluctuate that wildly."

He seems vaguely upset about this, but it's not directed at you.

Is something the matter, about this? You did seem to have some opinion before about our methods. Does that still weigh on you?

"Mmm. Not really. I'm a pragmatist at heart. This isn't great but I don't think you're actually being malicious or evil about this. You acknowledged that when you were talking about the stalking. If you had bad intentions, I'd have put up more of a fight.

It's more, ah... I've got a buddy who might be stranded in the 12 Dimensions. If it's been nearly a year for us, just imagining how long she's been there is... upsetting is all."

So a friend of yours... Depending on how far away she was cast out, then who knows how long it's been, at this point.

Do you have any idea where she may have ended up?
